The first versions went on sale in the mid-1990s just as American interest in SUVs began to ramp up. Though the original Outback recipe cribbed from the AMC Eagle by adding all-wheel drive and a lifted suspension to a station wagon design, it proved far more popular than the mid-1980s Eagle.Ĭall the Outback’s success the result of good timing if you want to. Subaru was among the first automakers to sell a modern crossover SUV. Maybe it would work after the firmware update but I doubt that that is the issue.Introduction - Find the best Subaru deals! Those that say that the hack worked, what size engines do you have? On other threads it seems those with 3.6 L engines the hack works. Proved that the green plug was reseated by measuring resistance from the end of the new lead that is connected to pin #2 to ground and measured approx 1.5 ohms which indicated that pin #2 is already grounded. Getting the green plug reconnected was a bear, had to use a mirror, also engaged with a click. The new ground wire and pin inserted perfectly (with a click) into its socket. I did not fully remove the unit, managed to work with the green plug only disconnected. Working space was extremely limited, nothing like the pictures in eps105 write up. I was hoping to not put the bezel back on until the hack was proven to be a bust but cant take it to the dealer as is. I wish this thread was all in one place! Thanks for the FYI on the brake light not on without the hack! I was a little concerned that something bad happened as I will have to take my car to the dealer to do the quassy firmware update, they will not send me the disk. ![]()
